Hatch Pitch 2019 Winners Announced

NeuroFlow Wins Hatch Pitch Competition in Austin

Hatch Pitch Summit 2019 took place at Capital Factory in Austin, TX on March 11th. The invitation-only gathering of Hatch Pitch alumni (founders, mentors, judges) and friends was joined for an interactive experience by our live streaming attendees. The Summit also marked the final stage in the Hatch Pitch 2019 competition for startups using technology to make life better.

Four finalists pitched and received feedback from this awesome group:

Edwel Energy, presented by Chrystal Gilkes from Sydney, AUS

eHealthNow, presented by Kelly Xu from Philadelphia, PA

Mambo, presented by Deanna Charles from Dallas, TX

NeuroFlow, presented by Chris Molaro from Philadelphia, PA

These finalists were selected from hundreds of global applicants during the year. Before the event, they received coaching from Hatch Pitch certified mentors, Keith Kreuer (Red House Associates), Paulo Machado (Health Innovation Partners), Bart Bohn (Build Sec Foundry), and Deborah Mansfield (DMBS).

Each finalist made a four minute pitch followed by six minutes of Q&A with our esteemed panel of judges:

Craig Cummings (Moonshots Capital)

Hubert Zajicek (Health Wildcatters)

Katie Baker (Kauffman Foundation)

Also scoring the official judged results were Aimee Woodall (The Black Sheep Agency), Balaji Gopinath (Twelve Venture Capital), Brad True (The Cannon), Richard Munassi (Tampa Bay WaVE), Roberto Moctezuma (Fractal River), Kyle Bunch (R/GA Ventures), Grace Rodriguez (Impact Hub Houston), and Yale Zhang (SPLT).

We are pleased to announce the results: Our judges awarded first place to NeuroFlow, second place to eHealth Now, and third place to Edwel Energy. NeuroFlow also won Crowd Favorite (selected by the interactive online audience) and Audience Pick (selected by the attendees in the room).

After the pitches, Sharon Wallace (Mbira Group) facilitated the group in breakout discussions on the most pressing hurdles facing our startups. Roberto Moctezuma led “Driving systematic growth” which was streamed live. Kate Baucherel discussed “Blockchain beyond the hype,” Craig Cummings talked about fundraising, and Paulo Machado led "Scalable & Sustainable Wellness.” Everyone contributed and learned from the collective experiences.

Josh Baer (Capital Factory Founder and CEO) gave us an update on the state of entrepreneurship in Texas and Joseph Kopser (founder of Hatch Pitch alumni, RideScout) shared his pathway to success and how the Hatch Pitch community helped along the way.

Our sincere thanks to Capital Factory for sponsoring the venue for the past 3 years. Also to our judges, mentors, and breakout experts. Finally, a huge thanks to the Hatch Pitch team of volunteers from Houston and Austin.
